Is this normal to have my period be shorter!?

I usually have my period for about 5 days. I started on Monday afternoon and ended last night. That would be about 3 days. No I haven't had sex. It is pretty light So I am just wearing a pad. But I hate pads as they make me feel like I'm wearing a diaper and are very uncomfortable. I usually wear tampons. I have to go swimming later should I wear a tampon? Do you think my period will come back? Please answer quickly??! (I started having periods on new years eve)
