Why do people get excited and yell back when a bingo caller calls out N40?

I've played bingo before many times but always at a casino. So I played bingo the other night at a local firehouse and every time N40 got called people got excited and called it back. I really don't get it and can't find it anywhere online! Please help. Thanks! :)
